As we continue to drive growth for our offerings, we are seeking a passionate and results-driven Sales Development Representative to join our dynamic team. 

The ideal candidate will have passion for driving results and a proven track record in generating outbound leads from Enterprise companies. Your main focus will be to drive our future growth by generating, researching and stewarding new opportunities with the world’s most innovative companies who are at the leading edge of technology innovation. Importantly, this is a growth and development opportunity on the path to a revenue generating position within Go To Market. We work Flexible First. This role can be performed remote within the United States  or from our Oakland, CA headquarters. We’d love for you to join us!

The Impact You’ll Have

This role is about developing and executing targeted outbound strategies: This includes researching prospective companies, identifying key leads within these organizations, and crafting personalized messaging to engage these leads. The goal is to secure pre-opportunity meetings and move prospects through the sales funnel. You will be responsible for creating compelling communications and delivering them through various channels to maximize engagement. Reach out to and manage all inbound inquiries in a timely manner. Conduct high-level conversations with senior executives in prospect accounts. Achieve monthly quotas of sourced qualified opportunities and closed business. Develop and execute on a strong prospecting plan of attack, including call scripts, audience segmentation and approach. Qualify inbound leads from marketing campaigns. Achieve quota for sales qualified meetings and maintain a quality conversion rate from meeting to qualified opportunity.

Who You Are

  • Minimum of 2 years in a quota driven Sales Development Representative, Junior Sales Account Executive or similar role. 
  • At least 2 yrs B2B sales experience, preferably for a complex Payments, SaaS or Technology product. 
  • Knowledge of the payments ecosystem is a plus. 
  • Hands-on experience with multiple sales techniques (including cold calls and outbound messaging). 
  • Track record of achieving sales quotas. 
  • Familiarity with key software (e.g. Salesforce, Salesloft, Gong, etc ). 
  • Understanding of sales performance metrics. 
  • Excellent communication and objection handling skills. 
  • Understand the basics of how SaaS and platform technology companies work, and be able to communicate technical and product benefits to both sophisticated and unsophisticated buyers.
  • Positive attitude, team player, adaptable, resourceful, and self-starter who is able to work independently Bachelor’s degree required.

Compensation and Benefits

Marqeta is a Flex First company which allows you to choose your best working environment, whether that be from home or at a company office. To support Flex First, we calibrate pay to a competitive value according to working location. Compensation is aligned according to three tiers within the United States:

  • National: A baseline tier that applies to most of the geographic territory of the United States.
  • Premium: Slightly elevated from the National tier, and oriented toward a narrower set of higher cost-of-living areas, such as Los Angeles CA and Seattle WA
  • Premium Plus: A tier for the most expensive working areas, like the San Francisco Bay area and New York City.

When determining hourly rates, we consider several factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior experience, and work location. The new-hire hourly rate range for this non-exempt position is:

  • National: $32.13 - $42.84
  • Premium: $33.91 - $45.22
  • Premium Plus: $35.70 - $47.60
